A must-do day trip when you’re in Mexico City, the Teotihuacan archeological site is just an hour away from the city.
But of course the city is packed with tourist traps selling Teotihuacan tours for crazy prices with some bullshit restaurant included!
By chance Mary found a youtube video explaining how to get there early with a local bus leaving at 8am from the Autobus del Norte station. So we woke up at 6 and followed the instructions.
We got there before the crowd and even before the souvenir shops opened.
The steep steps get you to the gigantic Pyramide del Sol, and the so called Avenue of the Dead lead to the smaller but prettier Pyramide de la Luna.
There’s also a nice botanical garden full of giant cactuses.
