Puebla, Mitla, San Cristobal, Chiapas and Yucatan!

It’s been hectic travelling across Mexico for the past 2 weeks. We’ve been taking buses everywhere! We’re still struggling with Leo’s homeschooling. He’s been made to wake up super early at times and doesn’t really have a fixed bed time, meal time or any schedule whatsoever. He’s super patient and cheerful for a 10 year old.

After Mexico city we went to Puebla. The food was awesome and we had a vegetarian version of the famous Chile con nogada. I’m definitely trying to make this. We then went to Hievre el agua which is on the outskirts of Oaxaca and famous for its petrified waterfalls and turquoise water floorbeds. There were too many tourists and vendors. Not my thing!

I was wondering if I could ever wear the summer clothes I carried. That was before we reached the Chiapas region. It’s a rainforest blessed with waterfalls and rivers. We also visited several Mayan ruins. The region is full of exotic flora and fauna. Colourful birds, crocodiles, scorpions, monkeys and of course.. mosquitoes! Just when the itching from our food allergy seemed to have subsided, we were attacked by mosquitoes. Luckily we picked up a stinky green plant based balm in San Cristobal which really helped.
